|“||I was told you were drunk, impertinent, and thoroughly debauched. You can imagine my disappointment at finding nothing but a browbeaten faggot of a son.||”|
He is a cold-hearted and controlling father, often treating Brett poorly, by neglecting and verbally abusing him, as well as times, physical abuse. He cared more about appearances towards his wife than Brett's feelings or desires.
From his first appearance to his final appearance, Cornelius proves himself to be inseparable from his own evil intentions. If he has ever had a doubt about his own ruthless nature, it is never shown, as he is so determined to bring Brett down that he's willing to sacrifice his own son to the cause. Such a violent attitude manifests itself in the way Cornelius goes about his daily life as his ruthlessness is constantly unsheathed, and he treats Brett harshly, teaching him to obey as he knows so well how to do. As a ruler of the household, Cornelius is manipulative, petty, and cruel. Even when around Brett, Cornelius does nothing to show him love.
Cornelius also holds a superiority complex, as he believes that he dominates Brett.
Personality and Traits
Cornelius Shimura strongly believes in maintaining grace and self-control. He has a sinister glare and is very cruel to Brett; an example is when Cornelius silences him harshly twice when ordering Brett to do chores in the house.
Almost all of Cornelius's actions are motivated by a narcissistic hunger for prestige. He expects Brett to be utterly obedient and is infuriated when he are not. Generous, greedy, willful, cold-hearted, ambitious, and cunning in the sense that he is utterly willing to betray anyone who trusts him, or do anything to protect his own. However, he is also arrogant and self-centered to a fault, which has proven to be one of his greatest weaknesses. While he certainly believes himself to be a master strategist, he is extremely impatient, short-sighted, and prone to displays of poor judgment and poor leadership.
As of Season 2, his personality changes drastically as he becomes more sympathetic and calm.
